Anyone up for building a “stupid question” board? Some place for newbies to post “duh” questions for each other? I find talking to others who did the same dumb thing helps!
-
I use the heading "I should know this but...."
If you read through all the threads in the yellowy background, you'll find 99.8% of ALL questions that can EVER be thought up have answers here;

Confucius says: "There are no stupid questions. There is only the failure to post a schematic."
-
It's an open board. Stupid is welcome here. :icon_biggrin:

Nobody is born knowing this stuff. We were all newbies once. Anybody who forgets that, and sneers at "dumb questions", soon leaves.
-
No such thing as a stupid question here. Maybe. It depends i guess/

Thanks guys. That gave me a chuckle!
I cannot get the stupid solder to stick to the back of alpha pots. I have a good solder iron, I scratch up the back.. good solder...nothing sticks.
Why? Maybe I need another soldering iron? I have a Weller soldering station. . .

Use sandpaper or a Dremel to scratch until shiny. Then put flux on the shiny part. Apply lots of heat and solder. Solder should flow easily. Practice makes perfect. But why even solder to the back of the pots. I quit doing that in the third grade. :icon_biggrin:

Don't solder to the back of pots. IMHO it is not necessary and is a bad practice.
-
Stupid question 2 where do you solder grounds since 3rd grade?
