I was wanting to build a little single ended amp with some parts I had on hand & after considering a champ, ac4, miniZ etc. I remembered dougs sch40 (GA5) & went back & took a look. I decided to give that a go with a ss recto & half way thru I realized I had maybe 6 or 8 6973 tubes on hand so I switched over to that. Its an amazing little amp & ive been playing it every day for a few weeks. Very growley , bluesy overdrive & surprisingly deep sounding. Not much cleans there but what it does have a low volume is very nice & chimey. Very happy with this little guy. .. Joe

Nice, I like the GA5's brought a few back to life. I stole the interstage PI idea and used it to drive EL34's
If you want to continue following the GA line, try a PSE GA-8. I started 6V6 and ended 6L6, into a 4 X 12, it'll give a drummer a run

Nice! I built the schedule 40 GA 5 a few months back, albeit it with a pirated PT which jumped the B+ way up. Ended up with a cool little amp all the same. I like the Hoffman builds - two so far, and both way cool. Yours looks like a keeper.
