Hello all,
I’ve built 4 tube amp kits, and, in proof of the old adage that God protects children, dogs, and fools, all of them have worked.
A question about wiring protocol. My last kit was a Marshall TMB 18 watt with a turret board. (Thanks to this board, I laced the turret board, which really looks snappy.)
I routed the heater wires along the edge of the chassis and to the tube sockets, emulating some of the excellent advice from this board. In wiring the rest of it, I tried to keep wires short and laid against the chassis, with some separation to each other. In a handful of instances, rather than crossing over the heater wires I flew the wires over the top and straight down. It all worked fine, but it doesn’t look as neat as the wiring jobs where all the wires are laid against the chassis even when they cross over each other. The amp works fine and is quiet, but was my protocol sloppy and not necessary to control noise?

Theoretically, signal leads should not be run near the chassis -- the wire conductor, insulator, metal chassis, may form a capacitance which can drain hi's from signal. Also signal leads should be kept far from other leads, so that noise is not induced into signal.

The signal input wires are not against the chassis, are away from other wires, and i used shielded wire for the input jacks...but other wires post pre-amp are against the chassis in places.

a Pic is worth a 1000 words. I study Sluckeys work, still ain't there but closing in :icon_biggrin:
There are more here you can study. It does take time and patience combined with practice, keep building, it'll keep the monkey at bay :icon_biggrin: (NO I'm not dissin you DL:)
the 2nd Image is also from a member, sadly I forgot who (P2P I think)
