Title: Dialing in a 5e5a build
Post by: etneccas on August 24, 2019, 08:44:48 am
What are some of the tweaks or things I should check to dial in a 5e5a build? I want to make the low end tight and punchy and just overall more responsive?

closed back speaker cabinet / different speaker(s).

reduce 100K NFB resistor value. experiment - 91K, 82K, 68K, etc.

swap 16uF main filters with 30-32uF filters.

do you know the inductance value and current rating of the choke used?

Hammond 193h 5h@200ma
The build originally came with a Mojo 777
Which to come think of it sounded amazing
but I was advised that it was under sized and would burn up. So I could either change the location from being in series to the taps on the output transformer or put a bigger choke in
and I went with bigger choke and it totally changed the feel.....
