Title: Why didn't I know about this???
Post by: dbishopbliss on September 18, 2019, 01:58:20 pm
I have been bummed since I moved from PC to Mac and lost my license to Visio. I just came across the DIYLC tool yesterday.

I was thinking about making a board for my Silvertone 1482 just because... This will make it a lot easier to play around with before committing.

I wonder how many other people have missed it.

hard to say how many here. There's a huge group on Facebook for DIYLC that know about it
Also some pedal builder forums have been using it for years

I have a .diy file library here and DIYLC has a library in the menus
So you don't need to start from scratch all the time when creating schematics and layouts

Yeah... I'm starting with Robinette's 5E3 deluxe file and then removing/adding stuff. The power supply section and the preamp section are pretty similar in many ways although the 1482 doesn't have any bypass caps except for the 6V6 cathodes. But from a turret board perspective that doesn't really matter. I will get to try my creativity with the tremolo section.

Make sure you download Doug's library of components. He did a fantastic job getting the size and shapes right for different brands, etc. It really makes a difference when laying out a board.
