Title: Another “quick” grounding question😀
Post by: daveyajd on November 24, 2019, 11:05:28 am
I have built 2 successful amps, both of the TOS variety. In both of those builds I used a bus bar for the preamp part of the circuit. One end is bolted to my board(no ground connection) the other end uses a ring terminal around the input jack and is held tightly to the chassis. All my grounds connect to that including the sleeve of my input jack.

This has worked well but I’m wondering if I need to use the terminal ring at all. Since the sleeve is grounded to the chassis anyway can I just end that bus at that connection?

if the sleeve has a solid connection it's good.
I like the ring though as a "lock washer" + ground.  that's sometimes just easier to position for soldering than the input jack

So if I use the ring terminal do I still need to run a wire from sleeve to bus bar?
