Got this solder at a garage sale, in bottom of goodies, any good for amp work?

99% of the time, tag-sale solder is not worth the dime. Plumber solder. Acid core. Lead-Free. Mystery brand. Drenched in paint or cement.

60% Tin is good old radio solder, Alpha was a great brand, this is activated rosin flux--- looking good. You can see how fat and dirty it is. I'd favor a slimmer gauge for chips but 0.03 is fine for tubework. You may have lucked out.

Betcha it is 33 years old.

The guy selling and moving after 60 years in the house was 92 years old, an ex-GE big wheel. He had all kinds of electronic equipment, diodes; components I've never seen before from the 50's or early 60's. I don't even know what l have, big box. If any interest let me know and I'll post pictures. I'll never use it, be in my garage sale when I'm 92 if l make it  :icon_biggrin: . Thanks, I'll use it.
