Hi Guys,
Not sure where to go for this questions since it's not a build but I couldn't find another forum.
I also haven't come across any threads for this issue that I'm having..
But....what "could be the issue if these 2 controls are weak? and on both channels
And by weak, I mean going from 0-5 you hardly notice the difference, but if you go 3/4 to full you can hear the difference in sound, but no where near my other 2 amps which are peavey 5150 & EVH 5150 100 watt.
I sprayed cleaner and it did loosen the knobs, but still not a difference.
All the other knobs like the EQ, you can hear the difference as you increase the knobs.
Otherwise no complains on the sound....

Perhaps no issue at all, but rather, just the nature of the amp.

Is this something that’s changed, or has the amp always been like that?
Is the impedance switch set correctly?
Try swapping the phase splitter then power tubes between amps, and check each time whether the issue stays with the amp or follows the tubes.

Honestly, I can't say when it started.
I bought the amp, left the those settings at 12o'clock, played it from time to time, then got my other amps and mostly played those.
I could try swapping tunes to see if it makes a difference.
What would be the symptoms if these pots were broken? And the likely hood of all 4 pots broken would be pretty bizarre.

Just for giggles, I swapped out the stock Peavey speaker with my v30 and you "could" hear more of a difference....slightly better.
I also had the volume louder......makes me wonder if this amp just needs to be louder to notice the difference.

I still think it's just the nature of the amp. Maybe you could visit a Peavey dealer and play with another 6505+ 112. Or make a call to Peavey. They are very friendly and knowledgeable. They also have an active forum for these type questions.

The next time I go to a guitar center I will have to check it out...
Again, this all started when someone playing the amp pointed it out saying the controls weren't working...and I never messes with them..
Thanks for everyone's input.
