The fiber eyelet board below has small eyelets and with the bottom attached not much room for solder. I've googled populating an eyelet board but didn't find an answer for a board like this.
Since the hole is shallow and small should I keep the components flat to the bd, and not much of a leg would be in the hole, like a 1/16"...? Should I bend the leg a bit between the two boards, maybe another 1/16"?
Any suggestions welcomed, don't want to scrap this board, came with a chassis I bought, fits perfect.

Clip is nice, thanks but doesn't help me much with the boards l have. I guess l shouldn't have said fiber board, it's hard like the bds Doug sells but thinner. l've populated Fender like black eyelet boards, much bigger eyelets and you can get close to 1/4" of the components in the eyelet with a nice blob of shinny solder on top. But this board has small eyelets and very shallow, Fender like fiber boards with the wire between raises the two bds for more solder to fill. I don't like sandwiched wire between boards, hard to service. Just wondering if anyone had a better idea than I suggested. Not much can be done with the small eyelets but was wondering if a small amount of the resistor stem should be between the two bds, maybe creating a slight mechanical connection, as the two boards fit tight.

Stick the full length component lead through the eyelet and fold it over flat against the bottom of the board so the lead is in good contact with the rim of the eyelet. Repeat if there will be any more component leads placed in that same eyelet. If there is a wire that also needs to go into that same eyelet, insert from the bottom and fold over flat against the top of the board so the wire is in good contact with the rim of the eyelet. When you have everything in the eyelet you can solder. Now trim all the long leads.
Don't worry about the backer board.

That's a great idea, never thought of folding the lead around the inside of the bottom of eyelet.

Lot of video info, solder the top board upside down, before the leads trimmed, never thought of that. Also, with the wire attached too, might be a little bulky between boards, now l'm thinking of running wires under the board if l solder the wire upside down. Several ways to skin a cat, got to think of another expression, who the heck would skin a cat..? But it's a well know phrase, wonder where it came from. I grew up in Maryland before Philly burbs, guess l got it there :laugh: .

the NASA link Franco provided frowned and sent you packing if they caught you soldering "untrimmed" leads. IIRC something about the exposed lead ends would eventually rot out, leaving just a tunnel of solder. pretty sure we won't see that day on a new build. :icon_biggrin:

Bear are hunted in California and Maine; and other places in America; it seems the majority of states have some form of bear-hunt.

A bear is in the woods around my house. Here we call them neighbors; in suburban New Jersey they were considered dangerous (it would be better to say that stupid ignorant people got in trouble with bears).
They are often skinned, for stuffing or for rugs. In California you must present your bear's skull (teeth) for age records, and I suppose they prefer to see it skinned.
