Title: Greetings!
Post by: CascoSieg on May 11, 2020, 09:10:07 am
I started writing and playing music again after a ~20 yr. hiatus. Had used a JC-120 back in the day, playing jazz and acoustic music, but am now really interested in a different, more organic, thicker, sound.  Last year I got a Line 6 DT-25 with a Bogner EL84 power section and have been exploring the variety of sounds available through that, to try to get a sense of what direction to go amp-wise. The amp models are commendable, but after doing a whole lot of listening and playing, I'm realizing they don't sound, or respond, or feel, or interact with my playing they way I think a simpler analog circuit will. So, I am beginning my research into building a 5F6A with some mods suggested by Rob Robinette's site.
A knowledgeable friend has many of the parts I'll need, and plenty of experience, so that's going to be a big help. And what I've learned already from folks on this forum has really filled out my understanding of what's going to be required of me, and provided a whole lot inspiration to do it.
Thanks everyone, and I look forward to sharing my progress once I get going!
