Anyone used them for coupling caps and if so what did you think of them.
-
I try not to use this as a default answer, but, try the search bar. I remember a few threads where they were mentioned.
-
Thanks, I did the search. They are mentioned a few times. Seems most are used in the PS for filtering. Did not find any thing reference coupling...

Maybe you can gain some insight from this thread:

Solen's are mentioned, but there is a lot of good "research" that might help you decide that what you're looking for isn't always what you're looking for. :icon_biggrin:

Hi,
SOLENs are good MKP capacitors and they have a good reputation in the HiFi-World. They are made in France @SCR as far as I remember. I have used them as coupling caps in the past with good results....and in a passive crossover. But that's a different world. :icon_biggrin:

Thanks finkaudio. That is the type of info I was looking for. I have a parts order that is being held up because the Mallory ones that I normally use are on back order. Order is close to 30 days and I am tired of waiting. When I called the vendor said If I would lake the Solens he could ship the whole order. I have not used them before and don't have experience with them. So again, thanks for the info.

Aren't they physically much larger? I bought some years ago and struggled to fit them in. Maybe things have changed?
-
....definitely a lot larger than Mallory 150 :icon_biggrin:
However, they also distribute Bennic MKT and those are also OK and a lot smaller.
Best regards
