Acquired this late last year. Had to restore it (reset loose neck ,fix headstock, fix back seam, a couple of other little things and build a new bridge and generally reconfigure it too be lighter and less klunky (original pickup unit was all steel as was the Hofner 'vibrator' tailpiece(That's what they call it)
All solid wood hand carved archtop. Spruce top, Flame maple back and sides. 5 piece Maple neck.
Many strange and wonderful unique little details and crazy design , though not Hoyers craziest.
Currently stung with 13-56 roundwounds and sporting a custom version of the original Ideal pickguard unit and a modified B6 (with aluminium Hofner style bendy arm.
Has a nice loud acoustic sound and sweet electric sound, Plays nice even with the DEEP neck.
1 Got it like this: (which I loved and thought looked really cool)
2 As a stock acoustic
3 and went through several incarnations to be this

Thanks.
For quite a while I've been transfixed by the idea of playing an electric archtop that was also a high quality handmade acoustic archtop.
Something witha floater unit, like a McCarty unit.
Sadly all the North American Alternatives have been priced out of my range due to collectability, celebrity endorsement etc. and likely will remain so.
It was cool to find this instrument, which is en par with the some of the best we can offer and which also happens to be aesthetically unique too. Here are a few more pictures for fun. The guitar has some definite quirky features. I especially like the end of the fret board which has a round and a sharp corner(they're all like that). the logo. the strap attachments, Nice van Ghent tuners. Enjoying it alot
Big 18" body but doesn't feel too big.
