Title: Greetings from UK
Post by: buddy_coles on February 15, 2021, 03:32:22 am
Hi All,

Greetings from the damp and cold Midlands of the UK :)  I've been playing about with electronics for a while but only got into tube amps a couple of years ago.  I am a Mechanical Engineer by trade so covered a bit of electronics theory during my degree, but I am still learning a bit more every day.

I had great success in modding my Blues Jr about 18 months ago (changed some caps, added adjustable bias, proper jewel light, presence control...) and I am now scratching my head over the 'mystery amp' I got from a well known auction website just before Christmas.  It looks like it may have been designed for Hi-Fi rather than guitar, and I am gradually morphing it towards something a bit more Fender-esque as I can't afford a Deluxe Reverb!

Anyway, just wanted to briefly introduce myself and say hello.  In my spare time (before Covid stopped it all) I gigged quite extensively with various Country/Rockabilly bands, and I'm hoping I can return at least partially to this once it's safe to do so again.  I play guitar and a bit of pedal steel, and I own an electric piano but rarely have time to become more proficient at playing it!

I look forward to learning more from the forum, and getting to know some of you better.

Cheers,

Simon 'Sid' Farley
