Anyone know anything about this beast? I can't find a schematic anywhere, not even sure what kind of juice it drinks. Appears to be a UK model, and the projector as a whole could be powered by 200-250V AC or DC(!).

I believe you have a 240V model. Some B&H used the diode network method to transform voltages and I'd suspect that's how yours works. Maybe check some UK sites for the schematic, I've run into a couplet of them--don't remember the links though.
I've re-purposed a B&H 179 as a Deluxe clone but it had to be a gut job and rebuild. The model I used was so densely packed that replacing anything required hours of R&R to get to what needed fixing. In my case the neat chassis and transformer iron made it worth rebuilding. Hope you can find a schematic. Good luck!

Thanks Lectroid. I've spent some time searching for schematics, and found plenty for B&H/FOS amps - but never this model. Which means the only hope I have of figuring out how it's powered is to follow the wires, and I just know that when I get to look inside (it hasn't arrived yet) it's going to be every bit as dense as your 179. I'm leaning more and more towards the "gut and rebuild" approach, and in fact that brings me closer to my original idea - which was to build a totally weird amp for my friend who plays, well, totally weird guitar. As you say there's some good iron in there and maybe some of the glass will still be good (although PL82s seem to be pretty cheap anyway - about as unfashionable as you can get).
One thing is certain - some fun ahead ...
