Title: Volume and Tone Pot Ranges
Post by: Ghetto_Soundwave on March 07, 2021, 10:23:21 pm
I have new build going and wondering if I can use a few pots I have on hand.

7K Linear for mid controller in a TMB stack?
250K Audio for volume and master volume?

Can’t tell without knowing what circuit you’re building.

Tubenit's SoLow Watt  twin triode preamp version. No send/return.

If I’m looking at the right scematic, the mid pot is 50k, so 7k is way too small.

You could use a 250k volume pot. The original is 500k, so if you want a similar frequency response, you’d need to double the coupling and bright cap values and halve the 470k resistor to ground (220k is close enough). Or you could just use the 250k pot and see what it sounds like.

The master volume is a dual (stereo) pot. If you only have a single pot, it won’t work of course.

Hope that helps!

Thanks 95. That does help.
