Title: Hello from the Phoenix metro
Post by: mmcnally256 on March 15, 2021, 12:25:17 pm
Hello,
My name is Mike McNally, I grew up in Lincoln, NE.  I've been living in the Phoenix east valley area for the last 16 years or so.  I have worked as a carpenter, electrician and electrical engineer.  I played guitar pretty much continuously in my youth.  I (mostly) quit playing music after high school, until recently.  Last summer I bought a classical guitar from Juan Hernandez in Valencia Spain and started playing again.

I joined this group as I have always loved tube amps and vintage stereos.  I am currently researching what would be the best small guitar tube amp to start learning electric guitar.  I am looking at the Franklyn Amps head with 8in, as the best value, and the Speed Shop and Swart as more expensive options for a 5e3 type amp.  I love vintage gear, ...my computer speakers are altec 604c's with new caps and the transformer replaced with inductors which provide: 0 -1.5 & -3db taps.  I haven't replaced the surrounds and I haven't yet decided about the cabinets.  I also have an S7 set in the Apollo cabinets with the wood filigree wrap around grills/covers.

I really love the LE15a's in the s7 set.  When I have the tv on and I'm not paying attention, if there is a knock on the door, or thunder, it fools me, I go to the door or the window not realizing that it was just the tv show.  Hard to beat that, for 1100 dollars.  I got lucky there.  Well thank you for including me in your group.

Welcome to the Hoffman Amps forum

There are many different boards on this forum for different topics.

The Tube Amp Building - Tweaks - Repairs board is where you can post amp questions.

That board is listed here.
