I’m sorry I don’t have the ability to process your request... but, I might suggest that the info you want might not be as easily acquired or accessible as you hope.  I would think it would be very difficult to predict whether you will like that speaker in that box, even with the aid of computer software.

True, but the software that would have the drive in data base would give you an idea if I'd be in the ball park.

Thanks

No harm asking

Of course it's a legit question. But the way you presented the question seemed kinda funny to me. You asked to let you know if you don't have software. There are over 8000 members here and I bet only one or two may have software. Do you really want the other 7,998 members to let you know they don't have software? Or would you prefer to only hear from the ones that may have the software? We really don't want to crash Hoffman's server with all those negative replies.   :icon_biggrin:

A JBL 140 in that cabinet will work good, thump-a-thump-thump.

Will it work "best"? Counting on one thumb, the more-efficiency 140 wants a bigger box. A box too big to fit in less than an Econoline, comfortably. Bass cabinets are ALWAYS a compromise.

Also live bassists have an advantage over recordings (what all box-calculators are for). A bassist who finds the G is too strong or the E too soft will adjust finger-power to get the intended balance.

No software - but I wouldn't go that route anyway. Rather I'd look to others' experience, like this thread:

Maybe I asked in a round about way. My intent was to get lucky  or weed out the ones who didn't have software but maybe had a suggestion of where to go.

I see what you mean about size. My Sunn D cabs are 24"x 24" x 15" outside dimensions. Plus the port on one is the large slot with an angled partition. The other is just an open slot at the bottom under the speaker Would a larger port in the Fender help?

Thanks

I went through a similar exercise with an E140 that I wanted to use for bass guitar in larger rooms than my 12" Portaflex cabinet could handle. I read up on the speaker specs, used a box calculator site (https://www.diyaudioandvideo.com/Calculator/SpeakerBoxVolume/) to try to determine useable dimensions, volumes and port sizes. I thought about building an EV 606 cabinet (good plans are available).

You are likely finding out that there are some important variables here, and the decision is not as straightforward as I would have hoped. As PRR was saying, it is a compromise and in the end, you need to be able to lift the cab and load it and still be able to stand up and play for three hours. I could not pull the trigger on any idea, but I kept searching online for a decent cab. I found a large Peavey for cheap with blown Black Widow speaker. I tried the JBL in it, sounded very, very good with my amp so I am satisfied with it. I need a hand truck to move it, but am used to that.

To your question about the Rumble cab, the quick answer is "try it and see". For a more detailed answer about the port size, you would need to know the inside dimensions of the cabinet, the port size, the volume that the speaker itself displaces, and the resonant frequency that is optimal to tune the speaker to. All that stuff can be figured out using online info like the link I used and the ones kagliostro offered, or.... you can try it and see.

My personal opinion is that you have to have four K140's in order to qualify as a bass amp.

The type of cabinet building software I find most useful is one that enables me to open pdf, jpg and png files, like these
