I have an old YBA-1 Bassmaster and the channel 1 volume pot seems to be broken inside the pot, (turns with no effort/ resistance). I am going to replace it but have been reading where everyone is replacing the 500k linear with 1m audio, however I haven't found any explanation as to the reason (or benefits) for this change. My pot reads 470k lin.
So, why do it?
Thanks.

Audio taper pots are more user ear friendly when used for a volume pot. I would use a 500K-A pot but 1M-A will work just as well.

I have a YBA-1 at home and volume pots are 400K A.
Follow Sluckey advice.

yba1 went through a number of circuit changes. many of em came with 4MA volume pots. 500kA 1MA whatever you've got handy

Thanks for the replies. I replaced it with a CTS 500k.
