Hallo, this have probably been up here already - but hard to find with such general search words.
Power amp saturation in push pull configuration, transformer clipping etc - most amps i look at when described aim for a rather clean power amp..
So i wonder - is there any examples of power amps and their transformers designed for clipping? If so what models etc?
I believe what i hear when i crank my Orange OTRs master volume above ~7.5 is something like that. But would be fun to see a example of a amplifier that aims for it. The most common cloned amplifiers like Bassman, JCM, soldano slo, hiwatt etc seems to being described as trying to keep it as clean as possible, some more than other.
And when i sit here thinking about what to build next with a 1760L Fender Bassman 4.4KCT output transformer that aint a bassman this just crossed my mind.
I guess keeping power amp clean is a good thing since all amplifiers i rambled up are icons.
But would be fun of examples doing it different! Or is single ended the way to go then?
Thanks for reading!
