 dumb question about knobs
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
when manufacturers say that the knobs have "brass inserts" what does that mean? and would these knobs with brass inserts work with typical alpha pots? or do i need to look for set screw type ones

thanks

Most knobs with brass inserts have a brass ring inside the knob which the pot shaft "inserts" into. All that I have used have a set screw and can be used on either metal or plastic shafted pots. However I have seen inserts that are serrated(sp) for a push on application, I have not used this style.

The brass inserts are nicer in my opinion. I have bought the same knob (cream chicken heads) with and without the inserts. I find the the ones with the brass inserts seem like higher quality. They are interchangable.
