Hi, A while ago I cloned a LA50BL and i've always been happy with the sound. I built my rythm guitarist a JCM800 2204 and it also sounds banger but our amps sound too... different. I've modded the input stage of my so it's got the high and low channels of an 800, and I am doing some more preamp mods to give it more gain.

my question is: if you put a jcm800 preamp before the phase inverter of both of these amplifiers power amp, what would the tonal difference be? does one output slightly more power? the 800 definitely seems louder.
