Title: Ceramic caps.. enlighten me please
Post by: Bieworm on August 28, 2021, 04:19:40 am
Hey guys.

On several amps there are ceramic tone caps. I read those tend to be microphonic, but still they seem to be the ticket on some amps.. supro for example. What is the purpose exactly.
And am I correct that the 470p is the ceramic version of a mica 500p? I never saw a mica 470p...

Class 2 ceramic caps have various effects  / significant imperfections, see https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ceramic_capacitor
Of course that could make them just the ticket, we’re not dealing with hifi here  :icon_biggrin:
