I've been lurking for quite a while, so I'm rather past due to say hello. My background is primarily in the diag and repair of 6V and 12V automobile electrics/electronics and so 120V-powered equipment is a new frontier for me, as is circuit design.
Many thanks to @sluckey, @tubenit, @geezer (gee, i shouldn't have gone down this path, as there are far too many helpful folks here, to name). Thanks to all of you for sharing so openly.
I delayed my "how do you do," because I wanted to bring something to the table in appreciation of all those from whom I've already learned so much. This is a very compelling circuit which purports to address both blocking distortion and crossover distortion. Perhaps I missed it, but I haven's seen any discussion here, of this circuit. It looks like a superior rework of the ol' Zener diode trick, so I intend to test drive it in my current project.
Enjoy:
