Title: 6g9-A Tremolux Clone, Normal Channel Delete- chassis opinions?
Post by: owen on January 05, 2022, 03:59:53 pm
Hi All! Discovering how beautiful Bias-Vary trem is with my 6g2, I'd like to build the 6g9-A Tremolux with Tremolo ONLY channel into a small chassis to match my 6g2 head. Some questions:

1) For heat management (and space in general), would it be better to Buy a longer black panel Princeton Reverb chassis VS  modify the spare 6g2 Princeton chassis I already own? or is it moot?? Buying a chassis and building a new head cab wouldn't be the worst thing. I'd be adding the appropriate tremolux filter cap pan underneath.

2) When removing the Normal channel, Should I initially change the bright channel 820R 12ax7 cathode resistor to 1K5? Looking for clean overall. would be an easy swap after it's built and biased.

I've though about a similar project. A one-channel 6G4 Super will fit in a Princeton Reverb chassis without drilling any tube socket holes: 4 12AX7's, 2 6L6GC's and a GZ34. And, the 6G4 has the 4-triode Harmonic tremolo.:

Great project! I'm almost finished with my 6g4 super in a bandmaster chassis, and I can't wait. I chose the tremolux for the bias-vary tremolo, otherwise I'd have considered the same thing when I was researching my 6g4. I rarely use the normal channels on these amps.
