Title: Hello and Thank You
Post by: MiniVanMan on January 19, 2022, 03:54:40 pm
Introducing myself to the forum and shouting a huge thank you for all of the information already on this site that got me through building my first amp without having to ask a single question.

So, now I'm the proud owner of a working and quite kick-ass Hoffman Plexi 6V6.

I do have a strong technical background.  I'm a service engineer for MRI systems, and before that worked on the targeting and night vision systems of the Apache Helicopter.  I'm even a MIL-STD 2000A certified solderer.  So, I've learned to appreciate strong documentation and instructions.  A copious amount of pictures also helps.  A little disappointed that "Put the fuse in dumbass" was not in the instructions that cost me 30 minutes trying to figure out why I didn't have voltage where I was told there should be voltage.

The forum has already been a huge help.  Now the bug has hit me and I'm looking for future projects.

Oh, and EL34's insistence that people actually read all of the instructions, and to reread all of the instructions and when things go wrong to go back and read all of the instructions told me that I was in good hands and probably in the right place for a first build.

Welcome to the Hoffman Amps forum

There are many different boards on this forum for different topics.

The Tube Amp Building - Tweaks - Repairs board is where you can post amp questions.

That board is listed here.

Thanks,
Doug Hoffman

Hey Grees.  Yeah, at some point I'll get a video.  It'll be my son playing because while I'm a decent engineer, I'm a laughable guitar player.

Every day we get to live is another day we have a chance to learn. Looking forward to the video.
