Title: overview re-learnin TWT

after a fast shift selling scratch-offs and beer, some herbal time, It started bothering my brain that I couldn't recall something I haven't used in 40 years

I found a few on ebay!  a 1W for $260 everything unknown, used!
the one the tax payers paid for a couple times a year ran about $50k in '79 dollars

Oh I think the Russians are well acquainted with TWiTs . . .   Old technology with new uses.

The Russian SA-2 and SA-3 used those for missile guidance IIRC.

the radar I worked on used a 2.5KW TWT pulsed  ~~2gighz to track the Russians, used a klystron 5KW CW as missile guidance to shoot the Russians using a modified Sam II.  was a short range system so if you missed you only had a couple seconds to...  :sad2:
