Title: New builder anxious
Post by: Tessicar on February 16, 2022, 12:39:05 pm
I am a new builder, I received a Power Transformer from Mojotones does not have a cover. Would it be ok, I include a picture inside my chassis. Please advice.

Inside the chassis is fine. I assume there is a cover on the outside?

Quite common for Z-mount PTs to have no bell cover on the chassis-side. Everything is inside the chassis anyway, and the chassis should be safety grounded with the (mechanically and electrically secure) earth wire firmly crimped to a ring terminal that is secured firmly to the chassis with its own dedicated locking nut/bolt.

I built lots of stuff with external (stand up) transformers more naked than that one. Just a wind of plastic, no copper wrap. All small transformers used to be that way unless you paid a lot.
