Title: Stage monitors wired in series and parallel?
Post by: punkykatt on March 13, 2022, 08:46:16 pm
Hey Guy's, I have three 8 ohm stage monitors I want to wire together. The speaker jack on the amp says minimum of 4 ohm load. I came up with a box  to try to do this. Please pardon my sloppy hand drawn diagram. I have monitor A & B wired in series and monitor C in parallel with A & B. Monitors A & B= 16 ohms monitor C = 8 ohms total 5.3333 ohms.   Will this arrangement mess with the piezo horns? The piezo horns don't have any magnets. Thanks in advance.

Won't monitors A and B individually dissipate about half the power as will monitor C?

I believe the 8 ohm cab rating includes all the goodies inside so the piezo's are "counted?"

I made a make shift box out of a small cardboard box, installed the jacks and wired it up using short gator clip test leads. It works, all three monitors seem to be at the same volume level and the piezo horns work as well. Does anyone on the forum foresee any problems with this setup. Any comments and suggestion are much appreciated.  Thank you in advance. Punky

Steve, that's funny,  I forgot to mention in the post the cardboard box was for testing only.
