Here's a quick-pic of some 5E3s in the shop. I have 35 to build so far so I should have it down by #35 :)
Shout out to My Doug for continuing to make excellent boards for this project

Dang Mike, you are a busy guy.
Where is the youtube video that triggered all of this?

No wise cracks Doug about my crappy playing! :)
Also, big shout out to Sluckey for tipping me off to a better PT (Hammond 290BX).

Wow very cool video. And very neat to learn Mike is buds with the one and only Tom B. I discovered Tom through the Nobels ODR-1, and watched a lot of the Homeskoolin stuff during the early covid days. What a player! And not too bad yourself there, Mike. Great video and great amp.

"Nice business model"
Nothing like old friends to keep you humble.
Great work Mike. Always nice to see good people smiling.

Nice! I saw the homeskoolin video a while back and the amp sounds great vintage guitar or not. Any hints about changes to the original circuit?

Hey thanks a lot. A few changes I do are replacing a few .1uF cap with .022uF. I also added a NFB switch (56K) which was a rip off from Rob Robinette. I add a ground buss on the top of the board and terminate it next to the inputs. I basically do that on everything I build these days. Also I swap out the 1st filter cap with a 33uF which really made a nice difference in noise. Right now these amps are dead quiet (thanks you Jesus :) ). Also, thanks fo my bud Sluckey, I started using Hammond 290BX PTs and the voltages are now right where I like it (also using a NOS 5Y3 rectifier)
Thats about it I guess. I just try and build as clean as possible and pay attention to the little stuff.
Cheers

I’ve been away from this page for far too long. Mike, thanks for your detail. I’ve been building other types of amps - it’s been so long since I did a nice 5e3, and I found your experiences really helpful. It’s coming back to me! Thanks so much for sharing, beautiful work. Most cool to see your history with the wonderful Tom B!
