Why is it that most here never say their age in their profile, "just say'n" :icon_biggrin:

Ask yourself... :icon_biggrin:

most here never say their age...
My age, there I said it :icon_biggrin:
-
> Why is it
Because it changes every year. Who has time to keep re-editing their profile?
-
Ask yourself... :icon_biggrin:
Ha, ha, I'm 69, how about you :icon_biggrin:
-
> Why is it

Very good answer :icon_biggrin:
-
I'm 69, how about you
i'm 94.2% there
-
I'm 69, how about you
i'm 94.2% there
what were you basing that percentage on Shooter?
-
shooter / dude * 100
-
shooter / dude * 100
what I thought you young-un LOL
I'm 98.55% there

When ppl ask;
Chronologically I'm 65, biologically I'm 80, physiologically psychologically I'm 12
-
physiologically I'm 12
I'm assuming that your phone autocorrected, and you meant psychologically ?
Personally, I'm feeling like a how a Willy's Jeep must feel -- a great idea, but that was decades ago . . . and by now long surpassed by the newer models.
-
If we specify an arbitrary unit such as one "dude", (with symbol Du?), then I'm slightly more than 1.000 Du.
The PC police call this chronologically-challenged.
-
Well I'm 59. 60 this November. Pretty sure I listed my age on my profile. Have to double check. Can't REMEMBER.

I entered my birth year in the profile and it shows my age (although I'm really not that old)
Assuming that it will change next year and so on....
-

Just enter your birth date in your profile and your age will always be current.
-
For a guy that wasn't suppose to make it past their 1st birthday I have no problem admitting my age.
I will be 63 in 4 days! :icon_biggrin:
-
Just enter your birth date in your profile and your age will always be current.
And why would I want that? :icon_biggrin:
-
Because dude wants to know. :icon_biggrin:

Not really, just was say'n... :l2:
It's like when we were younger, we'd say we were older, when we get older, our ages gets younger :icon_biggrin:

Google's scientific calculator is too smart for Platefire's simple challenge. Use Windows' simple 4-banger and type it in exactly as Platefire did. Then check your answer by looking at his profile.
-
> Use Windows' simple 4-banger
I've learned not to trust computers for arithmetic.
Ignoring proper precedence of operators, my TI30Xa gives 24.32. I had no idea Platefire was that young.
Windows calc arghhhh -- first, Windows pulled up Tonestack Calculator instead of the braindead built-in. Then I had to back-out way too many options (it was defaulted to caculating dates; who has been using this machine??) Pasting his post was total bogus, "*" is not understood as a paste. Hand-entering I get 14,800. If I assume that "%" is improperly operating on the whole answer it may be closer to 148 minus...... ah, I see.
-
37x5-47+62x37%=? :icon_biggrin:
I'll give it a shot... 74?
-
Guys, don't overthink this. Platefire is not thinking like Einstein. There are no parentheses, no perform this operation before that operation. The only rule is...
Simply start from the left and perform each operation as you come to it, then move to the right and perform the next operation, etc, etc.
-
Ignoring proper precedence of operators
calculating as written vs as assumed yields 2 differing answers
so we can infer Patefire is 2 different people :icon_biggrin:
did I pass

Ah. "Graphitics". Are you sure the world is ready for this power?

:l2:
nope the world is not ready for math, that requires thought, something that got lost this century
-
Ah. "Graphitics". Are you sure the world is ready for this power?
Haha! I see you are a disciple of Asimov. Me too. I think the world can learn to use this power as long as we have leaders like Platefire to show the way. Might have to destroy a few billion smart phones first! :l2:

A lot of thought provoking info in that article. I agree wi... Hold on. I gotta check this notification.
OK, what were we talking about???

THE FEELING OF POWER (https://ia903006.us.archive.org/6/items/TheFeelingOfPower/The%20Feeling%20of%20Power.pdf) by Isaac Asimov, has become a reality. This 10 minute short story would have made a great "Twilight Zone" episode. Can't believe Rod missed it.

....destroy a few billion smart phones first! :l2:
"war is conducted by long-range weapons controlled by computers which are expensive and hard to replace."
Issac sure got that part wrong.
Clarke did it with beads.
