I've been thinking about building one of these amps and found a chassis and face plates kit for sale. I've built my brother the AA864 Bassman (he's a bass player) but my guitar sounded very good through it.
Does anyone have experience with playing guitar in this circuit or built one of these amps? Also curious about the fact that this amp has "presence" which I'm familiar with at all. Any feedback appreciated.

I've played through (my own built) 6G6B with a Heyboer OT. I loved it and would've kept it, but too many amps and had to thin down the herd. I prefer playing guitar through the Bass channel (which is a big gruntier than the normal channel, and would definitely build another one of these as a one channel amp with the Bass channel.

Someone said there is a sucker born every day. Today is my day. :dontknow:
Thetragichero thought you made a joke, and you certainly did. :l2:
Guitars sound fabulous through that amp. Either channel. The louder, the better.
The "Presence" knob is a variable resistor that changes the amount of negative feedback applied to the PI and the output tubes.

in all seriousness, i am planning a 6g6b-based 2x12 combo build. it'll be the normal channel (favored by brian setzer) from the 6g6b (even picked up some of those swanky tapped treble pots from weber) along with a pentode preamp (probably 6au6 since i've gotten good results from 12au6 in 12v filament builds and have a couple of the ruggedized 6136) into cathode follower into some sort of tmb tone stack. might investigate relay switching for this build since i have the extra holes in the back (chassis was originally a peavey valveking combo, came to me stripped of everything besides the output transformer which i will be using)
