Title: Amp business in Australia?
Post by: patricks on May 03, 2022, 06:20:58 am
Hi all,
Are there any users out there located in Australia who know about the regulations involved with selling valve amps you've designed and built yourself?
I'm thinking of starting a small custom-designed amp hobby business as one of my projects for my eventual retirement - retirement is a long way off but my brain wants to answer the question now.
Things like whether I need an electrician's safety check on anything sold (or a qualification to be able to make/certify/sell high voltage equipment), special insurance for the workshop and public liability, etc
I'm waiting on a reply from the local business advice bureau, but thought I'd ask the experts here too 🙂
TIA, Pat

Send a personal message (PM) to user Timbo. He's in Brisbane.

I think it depends on what state your in. NSW (Sydney) where I am last time I checked you didn't need a license to build an amp running on 240VAC. Insurance would be another thing and when I asked the question a long time ago somebody said get yourself a good insurance broker.
