Title: Can component numbering be turned off?
Post by: mountainhick on May 04, 2022, 03:56:11 pm
I may have missed it somewhere, but haven't found this via search nor in the vids.

I want to create component variants that when added to the board display a name like 22uf/25V rather than like a component number e.g. C3. After creating such a variant with the name line filled in as such, when adding the component, it does not display as such. For now, I have to edit every single component added to the board.

Thanks,

I tested it and you are right
My saved variant was saved to display the name as 10uf/500v
Pasting that variant results in it changing the name to C1

I will report this on the Github here

I just found one way to solve part of the issue.

In edit selection, there is a choice for "Display" that can be changed to "Value". It does not however allow both capacitance and voltage. Ultimately displaying both would be desirable, but for now I'm happy configuring each component variant as such. Then they display marked with capacitance value.
