Title: New Build 6v6 Tweed Twin HP
Post by: JGk on June 23, 2022, 12:19:06 pm
Finally finished this up did some experiments like a switchable cascading gain stage,a Marshall channel and a few master volume types.  Didn't really like the cascade and Marshall channel it was good at lower volumes but got pretty nasty at higher levels. Settled with a Lamar type MV, dual bias controls and a 3 way neg feedback switch 22K, none and 56k. Used a 15 inch Celestion speaker. Its big and loud. Tried both EH and Tung-sol 6v6 (I've always been unlucky with these tubes even in my original super champ) and had problems red plating when biased at 22 mA at 398 on the plates. Put in 2 sets of Hytrons I had laying around and had not problems. I did up the screen resistors to 1K 5 watts. also ran a pair of old RCA 6L6s i had in it and they sounded very sweet too. Overall I'm pretty stoked with it, build it to use pedals and gig with so well get it out for a spin here shortly. Thanks to everyone for the info on these sites to help build stuff like this. Tried to download pics but I keep getting an internal server error msg.

Sounds nice.
I'm itching to build again after a couple years away from building. I'm shooting for a P-P 6V6 power section.
