Title: Standalone preamp question.
Post by: dragonbat13 on June 29, 2022, 09:53:47 pm
I've been searching high and low for some info on this and for some reason cant find an answer.

I am considering building a rack mount JCM800 preamp.  Maybe with an effects loop inserted if there is a benefit from doing so.

Anyhow, my question is, what exactly is done to yank the preamp section out of a jcm800 and plug it's output into any amp I want? Is it really as simple as hooking an output jack directly to the dang master volume output? I just can't believe it's that simple.  There's gotta be a catch.

Any info, links, whatever would be appreciated.

Yes. Then just connect to a power amp.

Think of it as connecting the FX SEND of the JCM 800 to the RECEIVE of another amp
