Title: Traynor Effects loop location
Post by: Mr.Death on October 21, 2022, 03:55:10 pm
Hello! I'll be installing a passive effects loop into my Traynor YBA-3 and would like to know if the location (red dot) on my schematic is an ideal place to add the loop? I'll just be adding a Boss DD3 in the loop if that matters.
Thanks.

i'd think the master volume pot wiper would be a much better place for it

So right before C35? Circle in yellow.

A passive fx loop does not seem like a good idea in this amp. The signal level at the master volume could be something like 100V peak. In the loop, you’d want something like 1V or less.

Putting a passive loop after the master volume could work in theory, but only if the master is kept very low. I think you could potentially risk damage to whatever you put in the loop if the master is set to anything but really quiet.

I would recommend some type of active loop instead.

I will not mod a piece or history amp with hole in the chassis.

Your yellow dot is the ideal place for a simple passive loop. Signal level will only be about 2 volts peak.
