Title: remove tonestack from 2204 circuit
Post by: joesatch on November 12, 2022, 09:20:35 pm
i know there is a method where you remove the ground from the middle pot but i want to delete the entire tonestack. I'm running all the tone controls on 10 constantly so i would like to delete the tonestack. How would i get the signal from the cathode follower to the MV pot?

One coupling cap directly between cathode and MV pot.

All knobs on 10 will not be the same frequency response as deleting the tonestack though. You will get a different sound.

To run everything always on 10, you could replace the pots with fixed resistors of the same value as the pots.

if the controls went to 11 i would have them there so i will delete the tonestack completely. I'll yank the slope resistor and replace the 470pf off the cathode follower with a 22nf running directly to the MV

I’d be interested to know what the result sounds like 👍
