Title: Strange Kind of Women
Post by: sluckey on November 27, 2022, 06:59:12 pm
If you like '70s rock you'll probably like this. If you like Deep Purple you may love it. I bet even Jimbo would like.   :icon_biggrin:

:icon_biggrin: The guitarist reminds me a little of Steve Morse (don't know why...), yields a Strat à la Ritchie Blackmore, but has her own playing style. On their web site, the guitarist describes herself as the Guitarist, Founder and CEO. First time I've seen that title on band's page. La Grande Ourse is in Brittany France and is a "Salle Culturelle" (Room for Culture) which hosts all types of artistic events. Also on their web page, the band provides a contact phone number with an Italian country code (39), so I'm guessing they're based out of Italy. And from the about page "The band members are all italian international professional musicians", I wonder what they mean by "italian international"...  Seems a little bit like an oxymoron... Great cover band. Enjoyed the videos.

I'm still wondering what prompted a search for "strange kind of woman"  :icon_biggrin:

There are a lot more older videos that show the gals really rockin'. Sound quality is not as good but still enertaining. They had a skinny long haired brunette bass player that I thought was very animated and a much better player than the blonde. Different drummer too.

The old band was really jumping on this one...

 :l2: Yeeaahh... I can see that...  :l2:

No seriously, actually I didn't even realize that "Strange Kind of Women" was the band name. I did a search on "female deep purple cover band". Just being curious.

I've been a DP fan since the early '70s. Was having a DP youtube session and the girl band showed up. Spent the rest of the night listening to the gals. Not bad to watch either!

"Made in Japan" is one of my all time favorite albums. Also since the '70s.  :guitar1
