Title: Gain pot value differences
Post by: Ledvedder on December 20, 2022, 08:35:55 am
I have an Origin 20 that I've converted to an 800 preamp. Everything is pretty standard 800 circuit, except for a 100k gain pot. The first stage is 2k7/0.68 with a 100k plate, then through a 2n2 cap, straight into the 100k gain pot. No 470k/470pF peaker. Then off to the 2nd stage which is 10k, 3k2, or 2k1/0.68 switchable with a 100k plate. I'm wondering what switching to the standard 1M gain pot with a 470k/470pF into it would do, compared to the stock 100k gain pot? Before I try it, which is kind of a pain due to pcb mounted pots, I figured I'd ask on here. Just trying to understand the actual theory of it.
