Title: PT mounting question
Post by: joesatch on January 05, 2023, 11:38:27 am
any issue mounting the PT on it's side like this? Trying to stuff this into a 2U rack chassis. I will have adequate ventilation and will use small L brackets to secure it but it will be laying flat

I would use four L-brackets.

Yes 4 brackets sound as a very good advice and small seems good too, as small ones are least subject to bending, but wouldn't the PT radiate (much) toward the circuit and be better being isolated by a metal sheet at least?
(just curious)

I agree, it is heavy

That is a large transformer for your small rack space.  No problem on its side.  Put the OT as far away as you can orienting the laminates in the other direction. Ventilate or use a fan for sure.  Jim
