Title: Too Good to be True?
Post by: rake on February 12, 2023, 12:33:53 am
Hey guys, A couple weeks ago I found a new in box Hammond 1760J 40w output transformer on ebay.
$41.99 + free shipping! Seller sold 3 and had one left. Thought maybe he bought out a closed shop?????
They're like twice that without shipping. Seller was quite slow to ship and it was like almost 3 weeks before it arrived. Found the package on my front step and it was shipped right from Mouser. Mouser sells them for $69.84 I just knew something had to be wrong. Tried to get up with ebay right away and found that he was gone and so was all his listings. Ebay won't tell me jack but I believe somehow this guy was scamming Mouser. I guess what I'm saying is keep a hard eye on these ebay sellers! Had ebay acted a week earlier I'd bet I'd be out my money and a transformer.

My guess is that he either gained access to their computer system or he had someone "on the inside" with access.
