Hello guys, here's a real quick intro!
I'm just an old dude in Japan, bought my very first computer two days ago solely for joining this forum.
I have no social media account, and this is my first ever forum..... I guess it was just a matter of time.
I've built one amp in the past, a Mojotone Tweed Deluxe 5E3 Style. Was a fairly easy build, just really hated the heater wires!
I'm now giving a Hoffman AB763 Two-Channel (Deluxe Reverb) a shot..... a bit more complex but it's coming around!
I've tried to stay off the forum, have bugged Doug way too many times and he's always been super helpful answering my noob questions. So I figured it's time I give Doug a break so I bought this dang computer and will start asking my questions here........
Thanks in advance for all the future help!
Dan

Welcome to the Hoffman Amps forum
There are many different boards on this forum for different topics.
The Tube Amp Building - Tweaks - Repairs board is where you can post amp questions.
That board is listed here.

Thanks,
Doug Hoffman

So, why are you posting from Virginia Beach?
-
Not really sure where you're getting Virginia Beach, but maybe that's because I'm using wifi on a US Navy base? No clue how any of this works.
But I'm pretty sure that I'm in Japan....... I mean I'm old but not senile!
-
Sorry. That's where your IP address originates.

No issues Sluckey, it must be the base's wifi or something like that....
-
Sluckey, it might be their
VPN??
-
Yes. I'm sure the Navy has a huge private network. And their gateway router(s) to the WWW is located in Virginia beach. All computers on that private network must go through that gateway router to reach the WWW. They will all appear to have originated from that gateway.
EDIT... I doubt it's quite this simplistic, but you get the idea.

as an East Coast Sailor I'm offended that a west coaster is using MY WiFi

What in the world are you calling west coast? Japan is not west coast. :dontknow:
-
the 6th fleet is ported in VA, heads East when deployed - typically
The 7th fleet is ported in CA heads West when deployed, keep going past Hawaii a few thousand miles, Japan.
hence East Coast Sailors n West Coast versions

Not to split hairs, but wouldn't Japan be the 'far east coast', making it _more_ 'east coast' than the east coast?
-
If I was standing in Minnesota I would say Japan is even farther west than the west coast.
-
I'd have to look but isn't it a different day there than Minnesota? :icon_biggrin:

At least we have a single time zone.
Last time I checked.
I think.
-
I count 24 time zones.
"As Earth rotates on its axis, it moves about 15 degrees every 60 minutes. After 24 hours, it has completed a full rotation of 360 degrees. The scientists used this information to divide the planet into 24 sections or time zones. Each time zone is 15 degrees of longitude wide."

in '79/80, we sailed from the east coast to the Indian ocean, crossed the equator, the day from HELL! hazing was still cool then. I recall someone saying wait til we cross the international date line....
thankfully the Iranians had a bunch of Americans trying to get through TSA, I never made it across the date line.

You referred to Minnesota, where we just have one :-)
