I just got this done. I call it "Combo Therapy".
As if the combo can now "stretch it's legs".
I live in shotgun style apartments, neighbors on 2 sides of my 4 sided living room. I have a $20 ebay dB meter, I measured my vacuum cleaner running (70dB) , so that's the loudest I play guitar during nighttime hours, and I've still gotten bangs on the wall at 70dB. So it's usually more like 65dB max at night.
This is a project box, 4 rubber feet, (2) 1/4" jacks, and (3) 100 watt 8 Ohm resistors.
It's setup to emulate the load a 4X12 would have, using the 12" in the combo and the 3 resistors in the box.
I'm getting a solid 7dB cut when plugged in.
I don't know yet if it was worth the time or $, but it's ok for now.
Feel free to move to tools/tips if that'd be more appropriate.

Cool
Add a switch and a bit of wiring and you can have also a Dummy Load
(as used only at the amp intake as is I see a 12ohm Load - 8ohm load if used the speaker intake)
