 Grounding Scheme
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have tried several different grounding schemes all with pretty good results.
Only one of the 1st amps I built gave me any excessive noise, and that was mainly due to poor layout of the preamp tubes.
I just built another Spitifre & used the exact grounding scheme from the board layout I got from House of Jim:
members.shaw.ca/house-of-...ev%202.pdf
I was very surprised because this is THE quietest amp I have built so far.
The layout has only the preamp tube cathode, input jack & pots going to the preamp ground.
The PI & all filter caps go to the power ground.
I'm curious if I just got lucky or if this just happens to be a good layout noisewise for this particular design.
I'm going to use it for my next amp or 2 to see if I can duplicate the same good results with other circuits.
Anyone ever use this type of grounding scheme?
What amp?
Results?
Thanks.
