I have a little Kustom practice amp on the bench for testing electronic repairs. Two years old but practically no hours of run time. The last 2 months has been mostly acoustic repairs so the amp has sat unused. Hit the switch and in a few seconds, boop, fuse pops. Only thing I found was a swollen filter cap. 2 caps in series 2200uf - 16v. the one that looks normal, 5385uf. the fat one, 8995uf. Replaced the cheap asian caps with some panasonics I had on hand, new fuse and it is alive again. Have any of you seen caps go that far out without any serious use? This amp is never on for more than a minute or two ant a time.

Well that's better than Elvis. He died while sitting on the throne.
When you say "cheap asian caps" you do know panasonic is Japanese right?
Where is the computer/phone you are using to post this made?

Yes but Panasonics are those not so cheap Asian caps!
The poor maid that flushed Elvis' last movement could have sold it for a fortune if she only knew......... :w2: :dontknow: :l2:
