Title: Good tube-amp-oriented podcast
Post by: Lectroid on June 03, 2023, 01:51:17 pm
This post may seem misplaced but I just found the "Truth About Vintage Amps" podcasts, featuring amp tech Skip Simmons. I couldn't think of a better place to bring it up.

If you're a new builder or just want to hear an hour's worth of intelligent tube amp talk, check it out.  There's about 120 episodes so far.  Mostly the host asks Simmons (and/or guests) amp questions sent in from listeners (tube amps only).  Our global moderators may not get much substance from it but as a new builder, I learn a lot.  If your SO is anything like mine, his/her ears slap shut audibly when you bring up amp-related topics, so it's nice to listen to conversation about: tube amps, musings, amp-related guests, some nerd humor, lots of classic amps, a little amp industry news, and a recipe or two usually thrown in.

Today the episode featured a 24 y/o electrical engineer who built a 1920s amp from the ground up, including making  his own triodes.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-UEfqAWb3fE (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-UEfqAWb3fE).

It reminds me of hanging out here.  Recommended.

Love this podcast. It’s like Cartalk for guitar amps
