A rear beast, only 200 made....

Moved on to Laurence Jones

It's got the sounds I like plus reverb
Don't need 50w.
I been given some hand wound OT's for a pair of EL84's and 18w is good for me
The cab for the 2144 is very basic so that will be a design I'll follow

The inputs are pretty neat. Probably lots of versatility there.

Subtract the first gain stage and it doesn’t look terribly unlike my own “Plexi-Reverb”. I used that extra triode to make the reverb more Fenderish, but I had considered using it for a more hot-rodded sound. I just use a boost pedal when I want that extra push.
In any case, I love mine and I think this would be a great project.
Edit: never mind, I see there’s no cathode follower, so not quite as similar as my first look. Also, that second jack confuses me, but I guess it’s just feeding the signal to the cathode?

The second jack is the "Boost" so a footswitch is connected there.
Really don't know how much boost it gives, I'll have to wait and see

Hey guys, Cab has been built and so far we're sound great.
Haven't cranked it yet to get a good overall idea of the sound
Reverb is awesome.
Boost also works well

Hey guys,
I was unsure how the EL84s would handle this circuit
I have an excellent guitarist that test all my builds and he gives me an honest opinion of them.
This one got a workout on the weekend and it blew us away.
For blues/rock it did it all and the reverb was amazing.
The LO channel was somewhat tame but useable
The HI channel is where it is at, lean and mean with no buzziness and articulate.
The BOOST is a good jump in volume without getting mushy
The real treat was plugging a TS9 into the HI channel for some super ACDC Marshall sounds
The only negative was using a greenback in an open back cab, but it stirred up some awesome feedback
I will probably do another build with all new parts.

Sorry guys, I pasted that reply from the Marshall forum and they use a black backgound
In short, one wicked amp
-
G’day Timbo, did you do a voltage chart for this one?

Looks awesome Timbo.
Would moving the low input to after the 1M volume control and adding a grid stopper and extra 1M ( or perhaps higher up to 5M ) grid leak help with the low channel ?

Hey mate, Happy with how it is wired ATM
