Title: Sluckey's Dual l lite new build "transformer recommendations"
Post by: 72Blazer on July 05, 2023, 09:07:13 pm
I am intrigued by the dual lite (18 Watt/AC15) Sluckey's build and looking for some transformers to fit the bill.  He mentions doing an AO-39 conversion but can't seem to find that particular set of transformers on eBay-yet I see alot of used iron for sale.  Can anyone point me to what would be a good choice for this build-either old or new production iron?  Thanks!

Look at the Marshall 18 watt PT and OT. Mojo has them.

Sluckey I read you used the Hammond A039 transformers.  Can't seem to locate that.  Any other Hammond organ PT/OT combination do the job here?

Yeah, those AO-39s and AO-43s were cheap and plentiful until I started turning them into guitar amps!   :l2:

The AO-35 is a good candidate but they are no longer cheap either thanks to Dr. Z.

This Weber transformer set is ideal for any 15 watt EL84 amp...

Thanks.  Where did you get your chassis you used as pictured on your website for the "Dual Lite"?

Chassis came from Watts Audio. He's out of business now. Size is 12.5 x 6.5 x 2.5.

Sluckey are you implying the AO-43 would work for the Dual Lite?  If not, what would be a good amp candidate for the AO-43 PT/OT/chassis etc.?

EDIT:  After searching the forum/and Sluckey's web page, I see that this iron would work for a Plexi 6V6.  If it won't work for the Dual Lite, I may build the Plexi 6V6 instead.

Thanks!

I used AO-43 iron for my Plexi 6V6 and my Supro S-6424. Good results with both amps.
