Title: Mod Electronics
Post by: labb on September 21, 2023, 09:30:12 am
AES (Tubes and more) has a line of Electrolytic caps branded as Mod Electronicss.  Good price and selection. Have any used them and if so what did you think.

I haven't used them but I will if I ever need any. I think Yeatzee has used some.

I've used several of their electrolytic caps with no issues. They work just fine.

That said, I confess to have completely switched to modern radial electrolytic caps, which are smaller, (often) cheaper, with better specs, and more readily available from Mouser or Digi-key.

I have no desire to use any oil filled caps. I know some folk swear by them.

I used them recently to recap a mid 70s TR and the amp sounds great. No issues. We'll see about longevity, or at my age maybe not.

Also recently used them in a 70s Twin Reverb. No issues yet!

I have used them, haven't had any problems, it's been a few years now. It's good to get some opinions on them. Uncle Doug likes them, and He seems to have good work ethics.

Thanks for the replies. I ordered enough to do all of the elec. in the Bassman 50. Should be here Tuesday. Rep with Tubes and More told me that AES is having them made to their specs.

Yeah I've used them a bunch, no issues really fair priced. My only hang up with them is I don't like the look, much prefer the sleek black & gold F&T's but the price is often quite a bit less with MOD and for projects I don't care about the aesthetics as much on I use them. I've also talked to several well known techs about them and they've all said the same thing. Great price, never had an issue.

Thought some might like to see the difference in the Mod elec and the originals

I have used the Mod capacitors before on several Vox clone builds. They seem okay. Not sure how they last.

They are just the thing to keep your late 70s Fender looking original!
