I played an early club date last night, with one incarnation of a blues band that hadn't played together since the happier pre-pandemic times.
And though I primarily play bass, I am all about guitar amps, just a thing from when I was a kid I suppose.
Anyway, I lent one of the guitar guys, a restrained & tasteful player, the '65 Princeton that I had sorted out last spring & he brought out a '64 ES 345 for the date, which he rarely uses, but has had it forever.
Hearing those two pieces of gear together, with no pedals, classic Fender reverb & the swampy trem on occasion, brought home the point of what the tube amp thing is about, for me anyway.
Just a pure honest sound, old-school.
Carry on...

I'm glad that had a happy ending, I was waiting for a horror tale.
